Recipe for Asparagus with Herb Butter
What You Need
½ cup softened butter
1 teaspoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon mustard
½ teaspoon dried basil
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 ½ pounds fresh asparagus
How to Make It
Using a bowl with a tightly fitting lid, you will add the softened butter, lemon juice, mustard, basil, garlic, and Worcestershire sauce and blend until thoroughly mixed. Cover with lid and place in the refrigerator to chill until needed.
Snap the tough ends off the asparagus and remove the scales before rinsing it.
Using a large microwavable dish, you will add ¼ cup water and then arrange the asparagus in a single layer inside the dish. Cover with plastic food wrap and then microwave for about 5 minutes.
Remove from microwave and rearrange the asparagus in a single layer and then return to microwave for about 5 more minutes or until the vegetables are tender. Allow to stand for about 3 or 4 minutes and then pour off any leftover water. Add 2 tablespoons of the herb butter you have prepared, while the asparagus is hot in order to melt the herb butter thoroughly before serving.
