Hyssop Herb Hyssop Herb or (Hyssopus officinalis) is a herbaceous plant of the genus Hyssopus native to Southern Europe, the Middle East, and the Caspian Sea region. Hyssop is a brightly colored shrub that grows from 12 to 24 inches in height. It has a woody stem with straight branches displaying dark green leaves and pink, blue or white fragrant flowers during the summer. Commonly used as a medicinal plant for ailments such as asthma, colds, quinsy, coughs and lung conditions, scrofula, expelling worms, high blood pressure, gravel in the bladder and stomach problems.
