Depending on the cause, many people have found a natural remedy for vertigo or dizziness in a simple exercise called the Epley procedure.
To perform the procedure, a person starts by sitting on a bed with arms extended for support and placing a pillow behind them so that it will be under their shoulders when they lie back. Turn your head 45 degrees to the left while lying back if the vertigo is in the left ear, or to the right if symptoms occur in the right ear. Lie back with shoulders on the pillow, neck extended, and head resting on the bed. In this position, the affected ear (right or left ear) is underneath facing towards the mattress. Hold the position and wait for 2 to 3 minutes. Turn your head 90 degrees to the right or left depending on the ear affected (do not raise it), and wait again for another 2 to 3 minutes. With your head in its current alignment turn your whole body another 90 degrees to the right (or left), and wait for another 2 to 3 minutes. Sit up slowly from the right side (or left depending on the ear affected) and keep chin tucked to chest for 2 more minutes.
Once the procedure has been performed the person needs to keep the head vertical without bending over for at least 48 hours. A neck collar can be worn to prevent movement of the head.
In some cases the procedure has to be repeated several times. If you accidently move your head or bend over it will be necessary to start the procedure over again. This maneuver can be repeated every 48 hours if necessary until symptoms disappear.
