Wormwood herb or (Artemisia absinthium) is a herbaceous, perennial plant native to Eurasia and northern Africa. It has fibrous roots and tall grooved stems that grow to approximately 3 ft 10 inches and are silvery-green in color. The leaves having oil-producing glands grow in a spiral formation and are a greenish-grey color at the top of the plant and white toward the bottom covered with silky silvery-white trichomes . It bears pale yellow flowers in a spherical downward direction. The entire plant is useful

Medicinal Properties include: Aromatic, tonic, antiseptic, febrifuge.

Common Medicinal Uses: It has been used as a remedy to treat worms, indigestion, liver troubles, jaundice, intermittent fevers, chronic diarrhea, lack of appetite and lukorrhea.

The oil of wormwood is an excellent ingredient in the preparation of limiments made to be used on sprains, bruises, lumbago and other soft tissue injuries. Formentations made from the tea are useful in rheumatism and related swellings.

Caution: Wormwood herb was used in the past to make a bitter alcoholic drink called absinthe. It is no longer used in such a fashion because of the addictive nature and the side effects which include: dizziness, seizures, stupor, delirium, hallucinations and death.

To prepare as a tea use a heaping teaspoon in a cup of boiling water for thirty minutes. The taste is not pleasant and very bitter. Adults drink a cup per day by swallowing one large swallow at a time. Children less according to age.
